The story of Mahalo House
Where waves meet dreams, and sisters build a home.
Once upon a wave, two Italian sisters—one an artist and surfer living in Denmark, the other a hospitality professional returning home after ten years in the UK—decided to turn distance into purpose. For years they had lived apart, one rooted in English hotels and the other wandering through surf spots and creative studios across the globe.
Bound by a shared love for beauty, travel, and freedom, they chose to reunite and invest in their favorite European island: Gran Canaria.
Mahalo House was born not just out of vision, but out of friendship, waves, and late nights covered in paint. It started with a dream and a weeklong “vacation” with their closest friends—two surfers and a Grand Prix-winning equestrian based in Germany. Together, they turned the house into a home.
Between morning surf sessions and midnight furniture builds, they:
Painted every wall with love and laughter
Repaired old bones of the building
Chose each lamp, each chair, each plant with care
Drew inspiration from the finest hotels on the island
Every corner of Mahalo House carries a story, a memory, and a bit of their soul. It’s more than just a guesthouse—it’s a creative retreat, a dream in motion, and a heartfelt invitation to travelers seeking beauty, balance, and belonging.
