About

Meet Alessia

I am an Italian artist living in Copenhagen, and I paint almost every day.

I grew up in Italy surrounded by colour, food, noise and long tables full of people — and I think that is still what I paint. My first training was in photography, which taught me to look: at light, at gestures, at the small moment just before something happens. Later I studied art therapy, and that changed how I understand a brush in someone's hand.

Today my life moves between the two. In the studio I paint originals and portraits made from real photographs. In the evenings the same room fills with people who have never painted before, a glass of wine in one hand and a brush in the other.

My work borrows from Alphonse Mucha and Norman Rockwell — the first for elegance and line, the second for the tenderness of ordinary life.

Why I paint

I believe creativity belongs to everyone.

Painting is not a talent you either have or don't have. It is a way to slow down, to observe, to be with yourself for two or three hours — and, very often, a way to be with other people.

That is why my paintings and my workshops are the same project. One is the quiet part, made alone in the studio. The other is the loud part, made around a table with wine, laughter and eighteen wet canvases. Both come from the same belief: that a life with creativity in it simply feels better.
